Current regulations for gas-filled electric power equipment

Recent environmental problems require an assessment of the environmental impact of the gases used in gas- filled switchgears.This requires the users of such switchgears to take appropriate measures during their operation to prevent gas leakage into the atmosphere.In the present paper the advantages and disadvantages of SF6, used in electrical switching devices, are discussed. Some recommendations are proposed in which case it should be used. These are in accordance with the safe handling of personnel when using this gas, guaranteed by basic European and Bulgarian standards in this field. The application of SF6 in modern greenhouses is also described.
