Comparison of the Cuk, Sepic, and Zeta Converters Circuit Efficiency for Improving the Maximum Power Point Tracking on Photovoltaic Systems

This paper addresses the performance of the Cuk, Sepic, and Zeta converters in the maximum draw of a photovoltaic system. The PSIM Program was used to simulates the converter circuit with an 80-watt monocrystalline solar panel. The average temperature module parameters at 25 °C and the average solar irradiant of 1000 W/m
²
were defined. The study was divided into 2 cases: simulation and experiment. The experiment started with comparing the performance of the three simulated circuits. The simulation results showed that Cuk, Sepic, and Zeta converters had 99.43%, 100%, and 99.52% efficiency, respectively. The experimental results from the actual circuit of the three circuits showed that the Cuk, Sepic, and Zeta converters, an efficiency of 80.64%, 83.64%, and 90.66%. Respectively. From the experiment results, the Zeta circuit is the most efficient. The photovoltaic system achieves the optimum voltage for the continuous transfer of power from the source to load, resulting in higher overall system efficiency.
