A Generalized Modeling and Analysis for Transformer Parameterization

The accuracy of transformer parameters in power system is critical for determination of transformer exact equivalent circuit because these results are helpful to continuously monitor the condition of transformer as well as its analysis. The inaccurate values of parameters can lead to inaccurate mathematical and equivalent model of the transformer, the accuracy of these parameters also affect the steady state as well as the transient analysis. Because of the transformer’s nonlinear behavior, estimating the exact parameters without making errors is challenging. To achieve improved system performance, it is necessary to estimate the exact parametric values of the transformer. These values are required for performance analysis, frequency-response analysis, fault diagnostic, determining the health of transformer and its design. In this paper, the Rao1, a meta-heuristic technique has been utilized to estimate the transformer circuit parameters. The results reveal that the proposed technique outperforms in terms of convergence rate and accuracy of parameters. Moreover, the proposed method is also compared with particle swarm optimization and the firefly algorithm in terms of convergence as well as precision.
