Development of a High-Precision Filling Electromagnetic Flowmeter Based on the MODBUS Protocol

In various industries, such as cleaning products, food, beverages, mineral water, medicine, and pharmaceuticals, there is an increasing demand for filling electromagnetic flowmeters. The precision of filling is becoming higher and higher: at present, the precision of electromagnetic flowmeters on the market is as high as ±0.2%, but high-precision flowmeters used in filling production lines are scarce. In this study, the analysis of various interference signals and other factors revealed the anti-interference measures needed to improve the precision of filling electromagnetic flowmeters. We verified that these measures effectively improve the precision of flowmeters used for filling production lines to ±0.2%. We adopted the MODBUS protocol in our system, which eliminates the need for one filling device to use many flowmeters and also simplifies the wiring of the device. The system can still meet user requirements for the batch monitoring and controlling of flowmeters, improving the efficiency of routine maintenance and greatly reducing the cost.
