Development of Mountable Infrared-Thermal Image Detector for Safety Hamlet

For many businesses, the portable infrared-thermal image detector had become inevitable during maintenance in the on-site situation. It exploited a non-destructive method to measure the variety of surface temperatures of electrical devices to prevent electrical fire and predict a malfunction. Under the circumstance of hotline work, the worker has to stop the current job to have an available hand to operate the infrared-thermal image detector to observe the infrared-thermal image. It lacks immediacy from the emergence of rising temperature on devices or improper operation from the human when the infrared-thermal image detector is not operating. This study integrated the infrared-thermal image camera, microcontroller, wireless communication module, display, and portable power as a single and small device to improve the immediacy of infrared-thermal image acquisition. We also designed mounting gear to fix this device on a safety hamlet for the operator to observe infrared-thermal images from the angle of eyes. The device transmitted the acquired infrared-thermal pictures through the wireless network and displayed them on mobile devices. With the assistance of this device, the response to the emergence of electric machines malfunction and improper handling will become more efficient.
