Elbrus-2C3: a Dual-Core VLIW Processor with Integrated Graphics

Elbrus 2000 (E2K) is an advanced general-purpose VLIW architecture featuring patented technologies of secure program execution and offering x86 compatibility via dynamic binary translation. This paper introduces the sixth generation of E2K architecture and describes a 2 GHz dual-core processor with integrated PowerVR GX6650 graphics based on it, planned for mass production in 2022 using 16 nm FinFET technology and aimed at the use in embedded and wearable systems, portable computers, thin clients and tablets. Key processor specifications are summarized, and its design, including E2K version 6 cores, integrated graphics and codecs, DDR4 memory and I/O controllers, and on-chip interconnection network, is described. A COM Express Type 6 module with this processor, enabling compatibility with different form factors, is presented.
