AyudaApp: A Mobile Application for COVID-19 Relief Package and Cash Assistance in the Philippines

With over 70.6% of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) closing in the Philippines and many of the members of the poor sector having severe implications in their livelihood due to the COVID-19 spread, the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) is established. SAP is a program that provides in-kind or cash assistance to those heavily affected by the pandemic. However, claiming government assistance involves human contact and manual paper encoding in documenting the distribution of in-kind or cash assistance of the program, which is inefficient, especially during the pandemic. In this paper, the developers discuss the development of the “AyudaApp.” This mobile application manages the distribution of in-kind and cash assistance for families heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines. The “AyudaApp” utilizes the Agile Software Development Cycle throughout the system development stage. The mobile application testing has been carried out using Agile Testing, a continuous testing process conducted between the development cycle, containing four levels of testing: component testing, integration testing, system testing, and acceptance testing. Reviews show a favorable result based on the developers' and respondents' usability testing and system testing.
