Solar-Hydro Based Hybrid Power Generation

With increasing global warming and pollution, the world is toward using renewable energy sources instead of fossil fuels. The potential for using renewable energy in Iraq is fine because of the abundant resource of renewable energy. Data of the solar irradiation and hydro energy show in Iraq that suitable to develop solar-hydro based hybrid power generation. This paper mainly focuses on the dam location in western Iraq in the city of Haditha. Haditha Hydroelectric Dam station consists of six variable-blade turbines that produce 660 MW but at present, the hydroelectric station produces less than "160 MW" because of the low water level, so the objective of this project is to design a solar plant with a capacity of 100MW near the hydroelectric plant in order to meet the increasing load demands
