Low-Cost Remote Laboratory for Cyber-Physical Experiments

The article discusses methodology and examples of remote teaching in the field of engineering disciplines by building cyber-physical experimental laboratory setups. Unlike purely virtual laboratories, the presented approach provides realistic feedback from a physical object, giving a number of advantages in terms of accessibility, time of use and safety. Few examples of increasing complexity are considered, such as the digital design and implementation of finite state machines, configuration of programmable logic devices and control of more complex plants by means of the theory of automatic control. Guidelines for future development are given.
