Computation of Human Body Equilibrium for Leg Based on Gait Cycle

A significant fact to mention is that each person’s gait is unique. The equilibrium state requires the computation of kinetics, which involves forces and moments acting on joints and body parts. The aim of this work was to explore the effort of an able-bodied subject in balancing his body weight at various stages of the stride during the gait cycle. The experimental setup of this work was equipped with the angular potentiometer based sensing mechanism and IMU sensor to measure the position, speed as well as forces. These parameters were acquired at the programmable Arduino UNO controller. According to the real-time results, all forces acting on the human leg are in equilibrium, making the body in static equilibrium. These findings may contribute to the development of the optimal prosthetic designs by the prosthetic communities.
