Theoretical and experimental study of spiral zone plates in aluminum thin film

In this paper, an amplitude spiral zone plate of the second order is studied theoretically and experimentally. The optimal thickness of the aluminum film was calculated, after which the zone plate was fabricated using electron beam lithography and "lift-off" processes. Using a scanning near-field optical microscope, the formation of an optical vortex by the aluminum spiral zone plate was demonstrated.
