Excitation of optical rogue waves in a laser model with optoelectronic feedback

In this work, the dynamics of a laser with optoelectronic feedback controlling the Q-factor of the resonator is studied numerically. In the studied laser system, two chaotic attractors coexist. Random transitions between them lead to the appearance of rare pulses of very large amplitude against the background of chaotic pulsations. It is shown that it is possible to excite optical rogue waves using a short-term small amplitude decrease in the Q-factor of the resonator.
