Analysis of the Selection DF Relaying Scheme in VANET

Communication reliability is one of the main requirements in vehicular ad hoc networking (VANET). The reliability can be effectively improved by using relays to activate cooperative communications. In this paper, we customize the selection decode-and-forward (SDF) relaying scheme to VANET. The reliability analysis covers the single or repeated transmissions over the V2I link. Both Rician and non-identical Nakagami-m fading are considered. We derive the closed-form solutions for the general scenario where the parameters of Nakagami-m fading are not necessarily integers or half-integers, relaxing the analytical constraints in most existing studies. Based on these formulas, the effects of LOS in the V2C link and repeated transmissions in the V2I link can be easily assessed.
