Stability constrained optimal power flow by inexact Newton method

This paper focuses on proposing a new computational algorithm for OTS (optimal power flow with transient stability constraints) based on inexact Newton method, by exploiting the quadratic convergence rate of the Newton method. The OTS is essentially a nonlinear problem with infinite constraints which is not easy to solve exactly even for small-scale power systems. The proposed algorithm has the convergence rate as fast as the q-superlinear but method. It does not require exact evaluation of the Hessian matrices, thereby significantly reduces the computation time, making the OTS tractable even for the large scale power systems with a large number of transient stability constraints.
