Efficient Dual-Band Rectenna With Omnidirectional Radiation Pattern for Wireless Energy Harvesting

In this paper, an efficient dual-band rectenna with good omnidirectional radiation pattern is presented to operate at 0.915 and 2.45 GHz ISM band. The proposed rectenna is composed of a dual-band antenna and a dual-band rectifier. The antenna is a modified dipole antenna which has a low profile of $160\ \text{mm}\times 40\ \text{mm}$ and omnidirectional radiation pattern. At 0.915 GHz, the gain of the antenna is 1.58 dBi, while at 2.45 GHz, the measured gain is 2.47 dBi. The dual-band antenna is then connected to a high efficiency dual-band rectifier to form a dual-band rectenna. The experiments show that the rectenna can successfully power a temperature hygrometer along with a power management circuit. It is very suitable for harvesting wireless power in many application scenarios.
