Design and Implementation of a GUI based Automatic Thermostat Controller

This work illustrates in detail the design implementation of a temperature controller needed for a viscosity measurement system. The system allows the user to heat and cool a closed glass chamber to a desired temperature of measurement. A single thermoelectric module of 6A is used to achieve the desired task. A negative temperature coefficient temperature sensor, connected to an Arduino UNO board is used to monitor the temperature inside the chamber. A relay module connected to the Arduino board is used to control the thermoelectric module to maintain the chamber's desired temperature. A Windows-compatible graphical user interface has been developed to control, read and store the real-time data. The temperature maintained by the chamber is almost stable around the set temperature. The system works well in the temperature range of 20°C - 40°C when the ambient temperature is about 27°C. The temperature range varies depending on the change in the ambient temperature of the surrounding area.
