Porous-Core Hexagonal Photonic Crystal Fiber for Chemical Sensing

We propose a hybrid micro modelled porous-core hexagonal-shaped photonic crystal fibre (PHPCF) for chemical sensing. The suggested PHPCF uses five layers of air holes rings in the area of cladding and one layered air hole whose shaped is elliptical in the central vicinity. Our proposed PHPCF represents high relative sensitivity (
$S_{R}$
) and small confinement loss (
$C_{L}$
) throughout a spectral region between
$0.8\ \mu \mathrm{m}$
to
$2\ \mu \mathrm{m}$
. Numerical analysis is done by finite element method based technique where boundary condition is perfectly-matched-layer. The suggested PHPCF represents maximum sensitivity of 82.96%, 85.17%, and 87.30% for three dissimilar chemicals such as water, ethanol, and benzene, respectively. Moreover,
$5.20\times 10^{-10}\ \text{dB}/\mathrm{m},\ 3.91\times 10^{-10} \text{dB}/\mathrm{m}$
, and
$1.52\times 10^{-10}\ \text{dB}/\mathrm{m}\ C_{L}$
are determined when
$1.55\ \mu \mathrm{m}$
wavelength is used. The newly proposed sensor has the ability to sense low refractive index chemicals which are essentials for industrial areas.
