A Study on the Power Prediction of Induction Range Considering Current Distortion in Resonant Inverter

Induction range is a cooking appliance using the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction heating, in which a magnetic field generates an eddy current in a conductive vessel. In order to improve the performance of the induction range, it is necessary to predict the output power through simulation, but it takes a lot of time and cost to perform all electric circuit, electromagnetic and thermal analysis for the entire operating time. In the induction range using a resonant inverter, the input current of the coil has harmonic distortion. However, since the steady-state finite element analysis assumes a sinusoidal input, the simulation results are subject to significant errors. Therefore, in this paper, the output power of the induction range was predicted through finite element analysis and actual experiments, and the current correction factor was defined to verify the simulation and experimental results for four types of induction range.
