Research on Green Disposal Technology and System of Hydraulic Cavitation Based on Retired Ammunition

As the ammunition stored in the national war readiness gradually enters the obsolescence period, the quantity of the obsolete and retired ammunition stock is increasing. Especially for the retired munition warhead, how to separate the energetic material from the shell in order to treat and utilize it is a difficult problem in our country, and becomes the bottleneck technology in this field. At present, there are three main separation methods of warhead cartridge case in our country. A kind of "burning method", in which the environment pollution is serious and the metal material of the shell cannot be recovered in the process of destroying the ammunition; two kinds of "steaming box" method of pouring the explosive, which is only suitable for heating and melting explosive such as TNT, and the working environment is bad; the third is "water knife" method of cutting, it’s labor-intensive and time-consuming, and it’s not clean. In foreign countries, the methods of water jet flushing and emptying and water jet and emptying are generally adopted. America, Belgium and other countries water jet flushing technology is quite mature, Russia in the hydraulic cavitation technology has mature products. The method can realize the separation of high explosive safety case, the filtration, separation and purification of the powder and water after washing and cavitation, and the water can be recycled to meet the requirements of safety, reliability, high efficiency and environmental protection. Therefore, it is urgent to meet the requirement of safe and green disposal of obsolete and retired munition warhead in China through the research of this project.
