Evaluation of Routing Protocol for Aircraft Ad Hoc Networks Communication

In order to evaluate the applicability of existing routing protocols in Aircraft Ad Hoc networks, the NS-2 network simulation software was used to build the simulation scenario, and the routing protocol is simulated and analyzed. The random waypoint mobility model is selected, for the two types of routing protocols including table-driven routing and on-demand routing, the representative routing protocol, such as AODV, DSR, DSDV and OLSR are selected and simulated. Performance parameters such as end-to-end delay, packet loss rate and network load are compared and analyzed. The results show that for the high speed aircraft cluster communication, AODV protocol should be use when the energy and channel resource is sufficient. Otherwise, the DSR protocol is recommended.
