MISO-NOMA Enabled mm-Wave: Sustainable Energy Paradigm for Large Scale Antenna Systems

In this paper, we investigate the spectral and energy performance of a low cost partially connected hybrid beamforming (H_BF) with fast convergence sub-optimal power allocation algorithm, namely, PC_H_BF. In particular, to overcome the fundamental limitation of the NOMA method, such as intra and inter-beam interferences, we suggest a low-cost hybrid beamforming scheme integrated with a dynamic threshold users’ grouping scheme. In addition, to enhance the information throughput, a low-complexity iterative maximization strategy is designed to implement the sub-optimal inert-beam and intra-beam dynamic power allocation tasks. Our proposed algorithm outperforms multiple benchmark schemes and reaches significantly higher energy efficiency than standard fully-connected hybrid BF, according to numerical performance. It is demonstrated that in terms of EE-performance and for a certain power budget (14 dB), we have an EE-gain attained of about 75% (2.6 bps/Hz/J) in comparison with the typical H_BF orthogonal multiple access scenario. Furthermore, the converge of the established iterative objective function of dynamic power control is verified, and it is demonstrated that almost 8-iteration are needed to achieve convergence for a specific scenario of the system parameters.
