Numerical Analysis of a Graphene Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor in Terahertz

In this paper, we present a numerical analysis of a plasmonic sensor based on Single-Layer Graphene operating as a refractometer in the terahertz range. The Kretschmann configuration, where the operating angle is the variable that monitors reflectivity, is used. Using the Finite Element Method (FEM), the proposed device was simulated in a software. Parametric analyzes were performed to verify the variations in sensitivity, Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) and resolution in order to measure the device’s quality. The numerical results are compared with theoretical concepts available in the literature and in recently published works.
