Detection of point source of carbon dioxide using hyperspectral imaging sensor

This work demonstrates the suitability of detecting point sources of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the images procured by the hyperspectral sensor Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer Next Generation (AVIRIS-NG) and validates the same by comparing spatial CO2 distribution at Jharia coalfield area (centered at 23.78° N, 86.36° E) with that at nearby urban regions. Adopting the same methodology with more adjustable sensing platforms, such as drones is hoped to be a suitable tool for developing smart monitoring system for local CO2 variations.
