Output Voltage Characteristics of Dual 2-stage Cockcroft-Walton Circuit for Multiport Smartphone Battery Charger

Multiport smartphone battery chargers are required in evacuation centers. These systems are required to high reliability and high durability in the evacuation centers after a disaster occurs. Hence, we consider the configuration of the step-down multiport smartphone battery charger using dual 2-stage Cockcroft-Walton circuit, which consists of all-passive devices. The step-down multiport smartphone battery charger suitably provides the constant output voltage: 5 Vdc from 100 Vac. In the dual 2-stage Cockcroft-Walton circuit, the previous research revealed that the duty ratio of the input source can adjust the output voltage linearly. This report confirms that the output voltage of the dual 2-stage Cockcroft-Walton circuit is from 5Vdc to 7Vdc without adjusting the duty ratio in the prototype system under the wide load range.
