Design of a WR4.3 Compact And Low-Loss 90° Waveguide Twist

This paper presents a new machinable 90° waveguide twist design suitable for broadband applications from microwave to terahertz. The polarization direction is deflected 90° by integrating a Two-square waveguide with chamfer between the H-plane and E-plane waveguides. All right angles in the circuit are rounded, and after tolerance analysis, this design can be used to computer numerical control (CNC) machining. The simulation results show that the return loss is better than 20dB in 190260GHz frequency band. Using WR4.3 vector network analyzer test, the actual return loss in 190-260GHz is better than 15dB, fully meet the requirements of practical application.
