Recent Advances in Reliability Applications of Gini Type Index

SUMMARY & CONCLUSIONSKaminskiy and Krivtsov [2] introduced a simple index that helps to assess the degree of aging for non−repairable components or deterioration/rejuvenation of repairable systems. The index takes on values between –1 and 1 and is distribution−free. It is negative for the class of decreasing failure rate distributions and point processes with decreasing recurrence rate and is positive for the increasing failure rate distributions and point processes with increasing recurrence rate. In this paper, we review subsequent research on this topic in terms of both further probabilistic developments and statistical estimation in practical applications.
