Research on the Employment Flow of College Graduates and Regional Economic Development: Analysis on the Flow Intensity of Graduates from 137 Colleges and Universities

Higher education is one of the key drivers of national and global economic growth, prosperity and competitiveness. This paper collects the big data of the employment quality report of 42 first-class university construction colleges and 95 first-class discipline construction colleges and universities from 2014 to 2019 through the network, and collects the employment number of college graduates with different academic qualifications. In this study, the flow intensity is used to measure the flow intensity of college graduates. The flow intensity is expressed as the proportion of the flow scale between a certain output place and a certain employment place to all the outflow graduates in the output place. The flow area is divided into east, middle and west. The results show that, first, the imbalance of educational resources in the three major regions is obvious, and the relative academic qualifications of college graduates in the eastern region are higher than those in the central and western regions. At the same time, the employment region of college graduates has a strong stickiness, most of the graduates stay in the places where the colleges and universities are located for employment, and the three regions of East, Middle and West tend to enter private enterprises for employment. Private enterprises have a high ability to absorb graduates. The employment flow of college graduates is closely related to the economic development of various provinces.
