Nanosphere Lithography to Enhance the Field Emission Properties of a Self Aligned Nanocarbon Based Field Emitters

An interesting application of nanocarbon based Field Emitters are in Field Emission Electrical Propulsion System (FEEP) as Field Emitters (FE). The nanocarbon is grown at room temperature to 250°C using indigenously designed and developed cathodic arc system. The best and stable electron emitting nanocluster material process technology is identified by studying its various properties like composition, morphology, electrical and field emission properties. To enhance the field emission properties of a nanocluster carbon-based field emitters a Nanosphere Lithography technique is used, and the process growth parameters are repeated for these samples and tested for its field emission properties. A nanosphere lithography technique-based nanocluster Field Emitters showed better field emission properties compared to as grown nanocluster based FE’s.
