Distance measurement using the sound card of a computer and two microphones

In almost all engineering fields, distance measurement is an ongoing concern. If some time ago, in the context of technological development beginning, it was sufficient to estimate the distances, with the technological evolution, it was necessary to identify new methods for measuring distances or improving them. Thus, one of the defining methods for the days we live in is the acoustic method, which involves the transmission of sound waves and their reception, the distance being calculated according to the propagation of the sound speed through the air, but also the time passed between the transmitted and received signals. In this article, we set out to study some situations with the interference caused by various objects around our receivers, but also to take data and analyze them, to see if we can generate a new method for calculating distances. Finally, after all these studies, we are prepared to take one step forward for a new study that involves the analysis on wavelength numbers of the transmitted signal, which falls within the distance between the sensors, followed by an evaluation of the phase shift.
