A Review of Topologies of Quick Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles

The paper presents various schematics of power electronic converters of so-called quick charging stations for electric vehicles. The quick or fast charging stations are those who implement controlled rectification and have enough capacity to charge electric vehicle within 10-15 minutes, which requires around 50 kW power for average modern electric vehicle. The principal diagrams of converters for the most common charging stations are given, as well as the equations for their description. Oscillogram are shown to illustrate the operation of each type of charging station. Analysis of performances and limitations is carried out.
