Energy Efficient Task Offloading in Mobile Based Cloud Computing Environment

In recent years, the usage of smart phones has increased tremendously. These devices are enough capable to support high number of intensive applications which results shorten power and limited performance. Cloud Computing can augment the computing capabilities of smart mobile phones by computational offloading. In the case of low bandwidth conditions, migration of complex and large data on cloud takes more energy and time than processing data on mobile devices. In this paper, an energy efficient task offloading algorithm is proposed to achieve the energy-efficiency for mobile application in the cloud assisted environment. The proposed offloading algorithm is used to determine what kind of tasks should be chosen to migrate on cloud. The result shows that the proposed algorithm can achieve efficiency upto 93.2 % for execution time and 97.6 % for energy.
