Hybrid Communication System for Secure Data Transmission

Wireless communication between two stations is crucial and opens doors for multiple applications. Data transfer must be fast, reliable, and at the same time should not be vulnerable to any kind of breach. Be it Radio frequency or optical communication[1] both have their own pros and cons when compared over these parameters. A hybrid communication model as demonstrated in our paper, to enhance its efficacy and security is a great alternative to the existing systems. Our proposed model shows higher efficacy when dealt with situations such as data breaching by allowing to switch between two communication methods. Utilizing features such as feedback in the system, the communication mode can be switched on to the other in case of any unwanted interruptions/breaches. The model includes a 650nm beam pointer, 433Mhz RF transmitter and receiver pair, photodetectors, and microcontroller units for generating and reading the transmitted and receiving data.
