Optimal siting and sizing of the Distributed Generation units to reduce power loss and improve the voltage profile by using an improved Chaotic Particle Swarm Optimization

Distributed Generation is a good solution to eliminate the problem of the power loss of the distribution network, which takes a high value at the peak demand. Various optimization methods have been used by numerous research studies to search for the best location and scaling of DG units to minimize the power loss of the electrical distribution network. However, in the vision of minimizing the value of the active power loss, the quality of these approaches is still low. otherwise, we define some disadvantages of these optimization techniques like the complexity, the precision of the outputs, and the convergence before time. For this reason, this study presents an enhanced PSO algorithm by using the logistic map to search the optimal sites and sizes of the DG units taking into consideration two kinds of DG (inject only active power, and inject both active and reactive power) with the objective function is to minimize the active power loss, to enhance the voltage profile, and to tackle the drawbacks of the recent paper. To examine the reliability of our proposed algorithm, we use the standard case study of the IEEE 33 bus. The obtained results show the performance and the quality of our suggested method compared with the standard case and other previous studies.
