Photodetector based Auto Trigger System using Kalman Filter

Synchronous triggering of multiple tracking systems is an important task that allows simultaneous data capture in a test range. In addition, it is very much necessary for initiation of tracking systems, which require synchronization to target movement. The aim of this paper is to elucidate about the novel Auto Trigger System designed to generate trigger pulse automatically with consideration of making it cost effective, by using raspberry Pi, i.e. a single board computer. In this auto trigger system, the authors utilize two Raspberry Pi's; one as processor as well as transmitter and another as receiver. Optical detector of Photodiode type is used for detection of event initiation. Real time noise suppression and threshold estimation is done by using Kalman filter with outlier detection technique. This novel triggering system is feasible for deployment where synchronisation plays an important role for evaluation purpose.
