Review of Open-source Microcontroller and Programmable Logic Development Boards

The paper provides a brief review of open source development hardware, based on microcontrollers and programmable logic integrated circuits with Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) architecture. Their main features and advantages are examined. They include all the required components for the microcontroller or programmable logic to operate, and are usually small sized, cheap and flexible, thus allowing to be implemented in teaching and home students' projects.
