On the Performance Analysis of Downlink NOMA System over Non-homogenous Fading Channel

The non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) allows sharing the same resource block by multiple users having different power levels. This approach of multiple access is favorable for 5G and beyond 5G (B5G) communication systems. Considering such transmission over non-homogenous mediums, it becomes essential to analyze the behavior of NOMA users over these conditions. In this regard, we examine the downlink NOMA users over
$\kappa-\mu$
distributed fading channel in terms of error rate, ergodic capacity and outage performance. For both the users, our main focus is to present the derived expressions of the metrics in terms of Gauss hypergeometric function and Meijer
$G$
-function. Such representation helps in analyzing the dependence of the metrics on the involving fading parameters, which adds to their analytical versatility. Simulations are executed which closely match the obtained results.
