Simulation of the Dynamic Processes in an Electric Vehicle Drive when Shifting Gears

The paper proposes a functional diagram of a control system for automatic gear shifting in a two-speed gearbox, the use of which provides a possibility to increase the overall drive efficiency by shifting the gears so that the motor mostly operates in the highest possible efficiency region. A mathematical model of an electromechanical system has been built, and computer simulation has been performed based on the parameters of an electric vehicle created at the Department of Automated Electromechanical Systems of NTU “KhPI”. The simulation has confirmed the possibility of shaft speed and phase synchronization when shifting gears. It was shown that the synchronization time is about 90ms, which is lower than a typical synchronization time of a car with internal combustion engine (150-200ms).
