An Efficient Method for Remote Control and Cloud Based Monitoring of Industrial Equipment over GSM Network

The advancement in technology has made things closer to the people by making them easier and easier to use. Nowadays, automatic devices is getting more and more standardized and people prefer those over manually controlled and hand held devices. This trend is prevalent in industries as well. Controlling heavy-duty equipments in plants of production companies is an example of that. In this paper, we put forth a novel method for remote control and cloud monitoring of one such instrument. It presents a solution architecture of controlling a furnace wirelessly over GSM network and dual microcontroller units. An authenticator signal is sent by the equipment user's cell/mobile phone to the equipment's GSM modem. This signal consists information about the required function and the GSM modem relays this control function to the microcontroller unit which triggers the respective action or sends the status of the equipment to the user. Also, using the same GSM module, status information about the equipment is sent to cloud for data visualization and monitoring from anywhere.
