Vibrodiagnostics of the Mechanical Frequency Converter as a Part of Induction Installation

Induction installations are used in the pipe production process to heat billet pipes. They are integrated into the production line. According to the results of practical data, a considerable part of the failures in induction installations linked to failures in power supplies, namely with defects in frequency converters. At present, mechanical frequency converters are still often used as frequency converters in induction installations, therefore, increasing the reliability of their operation is an urgent and significant task. The research of a mechanical frequency converter of an induction installation on the example of an operating converter is described in the present paper. A review and analysis of various methods of vibrodiagnostics to assess the equipment state are carried out. The evaluation of the main defects in the investigated installation is given and the reasons for their appearance are studied. An experimental research of a mechanical frequency converter by vibrodiagnostics methods was carried out to confirm the theoretical conclusions. The recommendations to improve the reliability of mechanical frequency converters received based on theoretical analysis and practical results are given in the paper.
