Design of a 12 kW Sheet Beam EIK for W-Band Radar

This paper presents a sheet beam extended interaction klystron (SBEIK) designed at a frequency of 94 GHz, operating at a voltage of 19.5 kV. Cold-test characteristics were performed using Eigen mode solver in CST Microwave Studio (MWS). A three five-gap cavities EIK was designed. The 3-D particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation shows 12 kW output power at W-band (94 GHz). An electronic efficiency of ~ 24.6% and a gain of 30 dB are achieved.
