A proposed prototype design of a student attendance system based on a combined RFID -WSN technology

Student records play an important role in the academic world. It is therefore essential to handle such records in a manner that is accessible, maintainable and secured. There are a large number of student records that universities need to keep and maintain. Such records may include personal information, academic scores, attendance records, library details, tracking, and access control. With the rapid increase in the number of students year after year, the manual method of maintaining and storing such huge records becomes a vulnerable process to human errors and is insecure. This paper presents a prototype design of low-cost student attendance and tracking system intended for the university campus by adopting a combination of RFID and WSN technologies.
