Calibration of autonomous vehicles in PTV VISSIM

Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are expected to become a popular mode of transport due to the safety and comfort being offered to the drivers. However, it is imperative that existing simulation models be calibrated according to the characteristics of these vehicles so that their effects can be visualized accurately. PTV VISSIM software has been developed for traffic simulation and modelling in the recent years and is being used all over the globe. PTV VISSIM creates virtual simulations based on the inputs provided by the user, which helps in decision making. In this study, variables related to the calibration of AVs were picked from the software and studied. It was found that some of these variables have a significant difference to those for conventional vehicles.
