Effect of the pigtail grounding position on crosstalk to aircraft shielded cables

In this article, we introduce an investigation of the effect of the pigtail grounding position on crosstalk to aircraft shielded cables from a numerical and an experimental point of view. The numerical simulation model is built in CST cable studio to predict the crosstalk between the single cable and the shielded cable terminated with pigtails, and the simulation results are validated by the experiment. A low-frequency model for the pigtail section which explains the simulation results is given. Simulated and experimental results show that the difference of the crosstalk transfer ratio between the different pigtail ground positions can reach 20dB.
