Integrated adjustable diffuser and its influence on centrifugal compressor performance

The electric driven centrifugal compressor is a key component in the aircraft cabin pressurization system. Its performance and working stability are closely related to the energy consumption of the pressurization system and the comfort of the cabin environment. The effect of blade end gap of adjustable diffuser on the performance of centrifugal compressor is studied by numerical method. An integrated diffuser structure for suppressing the leakage of the blade gap is proposed in this paper. The aims are to ensure that the centrifugal compressor can operate stably in the flight envelope and achieve efficient boosting. The results show that the integrated diffuser structure can effectively suppress the blade end gap leakage, and can improve the operating efficiency and working pressure ratio of the adjustable diffuser compressor as well when compared with traditional diffuser structure.
