Analysis and research of equipotential paths for live working of UHV DC transmission lines

UHV DC transmission projects have ultra-high voltage levels, and a large transmission capacity. If the power is cut due to maintenance, the cost will be high. UHV DC live working technology has become an important technical means to ensure the safe and reliable operation of UHV transmission projects. Due to various factors such as high voltage levels, long spans of poles and towers, it poses a huge challenge to live working of UHV DC transmission projects. In order to ensure the safe realization of live work, it is necessary to select the appropriate in and out equipotential method based on the dimension of the tower, the minimum safety distance test, and the operation item. This paper summarizes and analyses the characteristics of UHV transmission towers, and the minimum safety distance test for live work. The optimized paths and methods for in and out equipotential are proposed. The related research results can provide technical support for the safety operation and maintenance of UHV transmission project.
