Antioxidant, Total Phenol, Total Flavonoid, and LC-MS/MS Analysis of Pometia Pinnata Ethanol Extract

Pometia pinnata (PE) or commonly known as Matoa is a typical plant, mostly found especially in Papua, Indonesia. Ethanol extract of the leaves has strong antioxidant activity, while qualitative phytochemical screening shows that it contain flavonoids and tannins. Furthermore, the plant also contains some phenolic compounds which contributes to its antioxidant activity. Therefore, this study aims to determine the antioxidant activity, as well as total phenol and flavonoid, compounds contained in pometia pinnata ethanol extract using the LC-MS / MS analysis method. The antioxidant activity, total flavonoids and phenols were determined using DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), 10% aluminum chloride, and Folin-Ciocalteu reagent respectively. The results show that the extract has very strong antioxidant activity with IC50 value of 11.751 ± 0.4, while the total flavonoid and phenols were 13.153 mg QE/g extract, and 376.324 mg GAE/g extract respectively. Based on the results, pometia pinnata ethanol extract has very strong antioxidant activity as supported by the LC-MS/MS data which show that it contains quercetin, procyanidin, and kaemperol.
