Design and Development of Therapy Based Neuro-Impulse Socks for Augmenting Blood Flow in Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy Patients

Nowadays, worldwide 50% of elderly population is suffering from the diabetic peripheral neuropathy diseases, which is type II diabetes. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a nerve damage caused by diabetes and high blood glucose. It leads to some symptoms like pain in feet, numbness, tickling, burning sensation, and patient may lose their sensation in feet, muscle weakness, and also touch sensitivity. DPN may be a leading cause for disability due to foot ulceration and amputation, gait disturbance, and fall-related injury. The amount of individuals with diabetes worldwide is predicted to double between 2000 to 2030, reaching an epidemic level of 366 million people. Prevalence of PN in diabetic patient ranges from around 10.5% to 32.2% in various studies across India, and up to 50% patients will eventually develop neuropathy during the course of their disease consistent with Western literature. DPN disease is treated through medicines drugs like analgesic, narcotic, anticonvulsant drugs. In server case doctor may prescribe TENS therapy and acupuncture. But these therapies bit costly for ordinary peoples, per sitting it costs around Rs.500. So, this research work has decided to design and develop a therapy based neuro-impulse socks for DPN patients.
