Compact Planar MIMO Antenna Isolation Structure Based On Evolutionary Algorithm

A wiggly-based decoupling structure used to improve the isolation performance of multiple input multiple output elements is investigated. The wiggly structure is added between the two radiating rectangular elements. By varying the contour point of the wiggly structure using the Evolution algorithm the performance of the antenna was analyzed. To demonstrate the proposed method, a two-element MIMO antenna is designed and further to improve the isolation the decoupling wiggly structure place between the elements. The proposed antenna attain a simulated impedance bandwidth $(S_{11}\leq-10dB)$ from 2.4-2.5GHz, which covers the frequency of the ISM band. A maximum improvement of isolation 13dB is achieved.
