A Framework for the Applications of Sensors in Healthcare Engineering

Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is an well developing technology which is having a wide scope in healthcare engineering. Its applications are not limited to health care, accident prone systems etc. The WBAN provides both proactive and preventive measures for the users. The efficiency of WBAN depends on the sensors ability to measure the various parameters and networks ability to transfer the collected data to the end user. This survey paper mainly concentrates on data rate, security, routing, power consumption and delay of the network. It also includes characteristics and types of BAN. Various challenges faced by the sensor network are also discussed in this paper. Finally, it lists several applications of WBAN in different levels.
