Cylindrical Conformal Wideband Wide-angle Scanning Metasurface Array

In this paper, a metasurface conformal antenna array axially mounted onto cylindrical surface with different radius is proposed for wideband wide-angle scanning operation. To achieve the wideband impedance matching, A MS radiator formed by four patches with circular aperture in the center and other patches with the narrow slot along diagonal line around them is proposed in this paper. The element can realize a wide impedance bandwidth of 64% and the gain bandwidth when the gain>7dBi is 52%. The radiatorsharing structure has been implemented in ten-element phased array in order to enhance the scanning range. The bandwidth of the cylindrical conformal array with radius of 90mm is 40%(8-12GHz). At the center frequency of 10GHz, this array scans up to 55° and the realized gain varies from 13 to 16.1 dBi.
